Gate US CardGate US Card
VisaVirtual onlySince 2026The US-only sibling of the global Gate card: a virtual Visa issued by Lead Bank, funded straight from a Gate US exchange balance that accepts on-chain deposits of USDT, USDC, BTC or ETH, with a fee table that charges 0.9% to load and nothing else.
The issuer does not publish enough of its charges for us to price this card. That is not the same as cheap.
Whether to take Gate US Card
Worth it for a US resident outside the seven excluded jurisdictions who holds assets on Gate US and wants to spend them online and by phone: 0.9% in and nothing else published is cheap, and the issuer, program manager and licences are all named. Not worth it if you need cash or spend abroad — ATM use is forbidden outright, and neither the foreign-transaction cost nor the conversion spread is published anywhere.
In its favour
- The published fee table is short and all-zero apart from one line: virtual issuance free, monthly free, inactivity free, and 0.9% to move money onto the card
- The issuing stack is named end to end — Lead Bank as issuer under a Visa licence, Bridge Ventures LLC as program manager, Gate US, Inc. as platform provider with NMLS ID 2272810 and money transmitter licences in 36 US jurisdictions
- Funded from the exchange balance, which can be filled by an on-chain deposit from any external wallet — no bank transfer required to get started
- Four assets fund it directly, including BTC and ETH rather than stablecoins only, converted at the till into the spending currency you nominate
Against it
- United States only, and seven US jurisdictions are excluded on top — Alaska, Texas, Louisiana, the US Virgin Islands, New York, Washington and North Carolina. Texas and New York alone are about a fifth of the country, and this site's country field cannot express a state-level exclusion
- No ATM access at all. The terms forbid cash withdrawal outright, and the marketing page never says so
- The "Cardholder Agreement" linked from Gate US's own card page is a different company's contract — carrying its fee figures across would be a mistake a reader could easily make
- No foreign-transaction or currency-conversion fee is published anywhere, yet the card is sold for use where Visa is accepted worldwide — the cost of spending abroad is undisclosed
Also true, in its favour
- Apple Pay and Google Pay, so a virtual-only card still works in person
- $5,000 a day is published as a plain number rather than a tier table

One charge and a row of zeros: 0.9% to move money onto the card, with virtual issuance, the monthly fee and the inactivity fee all free. Spending is capped at $5,000 a day. Nothing is published for currency conversion or foreign transactions, which matters because the card is marketed for use wherever Visa is accepted — and Gate US separately states that it takes a spread on the digital-asset sale funding each purchase without ever quantifying it. Disputing a transaction costs $35. There is no ATM fee for the structural reason that there is no ATM access: the terms forbid cash withdrawal. Seven US jurisdictions are excluded and the specific card-level state restrictions are never published, only referred to.
KYC: what Gate US Card asks for
A government document. Passport or ID goes to the issuer and to whoever processes verification for it, before the card is handed over.
Limits on spending
Not published by the issuer: monthly spend, per payment, maximum balance, cash, per day.
Confirmed on gate.com on September 12, 2026. A figure told to one person in a chat window is not a published limit, so it does not appear here.
Where it works
Issued only to residents of 1 countries — the issuer runs an allowlist, so everywhere else is closed.
- United States
The other flaws
- Gate US takes an unquantified spread on the asset sale that funds each purchase, and says so without pricing it
- Gate US reserves the right to debit or offset the rest of your account to cover a card transaction
- No FDIC insurance on the crypto side, with Gate US's own blunt disclosure that in an insolvency "all or some of your assets may be lost"
- $35 to dispute a transaction, higher than the $30 on the global Gate card
- Support is split three ways, with different phone numbers depending on the problem
- A separate product from the global Gate Card despite the shared name, with a daily limit an order of magnitude smaller — anyone arriving from the other entry will misjudge it
