CARD PROFILE · NO KYC

Nocturne.

One of the only card stacks that treats Monero as a first-class funding asset rather than an afterthought, paired with genuinely zero-knowledge onboarding — no ID, no selfie, no dossier — and a flat $0.30 per payment instead of a percentage of your cart.

Pros.

  • +No KYC, ever — no ID, no selfie, no documents, and no identity record on file to leak
  • +Monero is treated as a first-class funding asset, at the same 0.49% fee and same limits as every other coin
  • +Also funds with BTC, ETH, USDT (Tron, Ethereum, Solana), USDC and LTC
  • +Spending costs a flat $0.30 per payment — a $3 espresso and a $3,000 checkout pay the same
  • +No monthly fee and no subscription; freeze, unfreeze and balance checks are always free
  • +No FX padding — conversions run at the network's standard rate with no spread on top
  • +A live card number in about sixty seconds from creating the account
  • +High daily ceiling of $30,000, identical on both card cuts
  • +The load fee tapers automatically with monthly volume, from 5% down to a 4% floor, with nothing to request
  • +Aurora provisions to Apple Pay and Google Pay for real-world tap to pay
  • +Built-in 3-D Secure on real bank rails, which clears ad platforms like Meta, Google and TikTok
  • +Card details are shown once then stored encrypted; token accounts recover from twelve words

Cons.

  • The 5% card-load fee is heavy — the published all-in cost on a first $1,000 is $102.16
  • You pay twice to get money in: 0.49% on deposit, then 5% again to move balance onto a card
  • Minting is paid and non-refundable: $25 for Shadow, $50 for Aurora
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay only come with the pricier Aurora cut — Shadow has neither
  • A card needs $29 of spend a month to stay live; leave it idle two months and it is reissued
  • Virtual only — no physical card and no ATM access
  • No legal entity, jurisdiction or company registration is published anywhere on the site
  • There is no Terms of Service page at all — /terms returns a 404
  • No independent Trustpilot or peer-directory record to corroborate the operator
  • Larger loads may wait an extra block before crediting
  • Support lives only in the dashboard and on Telegram — no phone, no postal address

Two fees get money in: 0.49% on deposit for every asset including Monero, then 5% to move that balance onto a card. The load fee re-rates itself automatically by calendar-month volume — $50 per $1,000 at the standard rate, $45 per $1,000 at the middle step, and a $40 per $1,000 floor at high volume — and the load that crosses the line already pays the lower rate. Minting is once: $25 for the Shadow cut, $50 for the Aurora cut which adds Apple Pay and Google Pay. Both cuts share the same $30,000 daily ceiling. Spending is a flat $0.30 per payment, never a percentage, and there is no FX padding. Monthly fee is $0, but a card needs $29 of spend a month to stay live — idle for two months and it is reissued with the balance returned first. Nocturne's own worked example: deposit $1,000, mint an Aurora and load it, and the all-in cost is $102.16.
