UTGL Asset Link

MastercardPlastic onlySince 2021
Asks for everythingOperational

A Mastercard credit line drawn against a Hong Kong trust rather than against your salary — the limit tracks the market value of what the trust holds, USDT among it, and you decide when to settle because there is no minimum payment and no billing cycle.

Total, per $100 spent: not published

The issuer does not publish enough of its charges for us to price this card. That is not the same as cheap.

Whether to take UTGL Asset Link

Worth investigating if you already hold assets worth putting into a trust and want to spend against them without selling — the structure is genuinely different from every other card here, and the daily-interest, no-minimum-payment design gives you more control than a normal credit card. Not a card you can shop for. No price of any kind is published, the crypto deposit path is invisible until you are inside the application, and opening a Hong Kong trust is a different undertaking from downloading an app.

In its favour

  • A credit line sized against assets you already hold rather than against your income — the limit is set as a proportion of the market value of what sits in your UTGL trust
  • USDT can be deposited into the trust account from an outside wallet, with an address, a transaction hash and a screenshot upload, so crypto is genuinely one of the backing assets
  • Mastercard cash withdrawal in 210 countries, which very few crypto-backed cards offer at all
  • Interest accrues daily on the outstanding balance and is notified daily, rather than being charged in an opaque monthly block

Against it

  • No fee schedule is published anywhere. The annual fee, the ATM charge, the currency conversion, the interest rate and every limit are absent from all three UTGL domains, so the cost of this card cannot be estimated before applying
  • It is a credit card, so an unpaid balance accrues interest daily from the withdrawal date on cash and from the merchant settlement date on purchases
  • The crypto part is invisible from the marketing. The brochure pages list currencies, shares, commodities, metals, insurance policies, property, vehicles and luxury goods as trust assets and never mention a digital one — the USDT deposit flow exists only inside the live application at account.utgl.io
  • Opening a Hong Kong trust is the real barrier: this is not an app signup, and no minimum is published

Also true, in its favour

  • No minimum payment and no fixed billing cycle — you decide when and how much to settle
  • Optional automatic repayment from trust assets you nominate, switchable on and off from the account page, and no interest at all when it covers the balance
  • A Hong Kong trust structure means the assets are held under trust law rather than on a fintech's balance sheet

What UTGL Asset Link costs

UTGL Asset Link publishes no fee schedule at all — not one of these charges is named on utgl.io. That is why this record carries no price: the ledger says so rather than estimating one.

Not published by the issuer: to issue the card, monthly, to load, to spend, per payment, fixed, to spend outside the dollar, at a cash machine.

Nothing is priced. UTGL publishes how the card works in unusual detail — daily interest calculated on the outstanding balance, daily notification of that balance, automatic repayment from nominated trust assets, no interest when auto-repayment covers it, no minimum payment and no fixed cycle — and does not publish a single figure. The annual fee, the ATM charge, the currency conversion, the interest rate itself and every limit are absent from the public pages. The one quantified claim is reach rather than price: cash withdrawal at Mastercard machines in 210 countries. Anyone considering this should expect to learn the numbers during a trust application rather than before it.

KYC: what UTGL Asset Link asks for

Full verification: a document, a photograph of your face and proof of your address. The same file a bank opens on you, held by a company that is not a bank.

The issuer names no country it turns away. That is not a promise that every country works.

The other flaws

  • Physical card only, with no virtual option
  • No Apple Pay
  • No country list of any kind is published, for the card or for the trust account
  • The first transaction cannot be contactless — a deliberate anti-fraud measure, but a surprise at the till
  • The site is primarily Chinese-language, and the English pages are thinner
