Takenos
VisaVirtual and plasticSince 2022A LatAm dollar account with a Visa card that takes stablecoin deposits on four networks and, uniquely in its region, ships a physical card with ATM access — though only in Bolivia, and only to a few city delivery zones.
The issuer does not publish enough of its charges for us to price this card. That is not the same as cheap.
Whether to take Takenos
Worth it for a freelancer in Latin America who is paid in stablecoins and wants dollars they can spend locally: the deposit rail is real, the entry cost is $5, and four years of operation with a CNV registration is more than most of the region offers. Watch the 1%. It applies to every purchase including dollar ones, which on ordinary spending outweighs the cheap entry — and if you are outside Bolivia there is no plastic and therefore no cash.
In its favour
- Crypto deposits are a shipped feature available to all users, on four networks, feeding the same dollar balance the card spends
- $5 to issue the virtual card and no monthly fee after that
- A real physical card with ATM access, which most LatAm stablecoin apps do not offer at all
- A dollar account with receiving details alongside the card, aimed squarely at freelancers paid from abroad
Against it
- 1% is charged on EVERY purchase, including dollar ones, on a product sold as spending "at the real rate, with no taxes"
- The deposit fee cannot be stated as one number: the funding table has four rows, and Tron — the default USDT rail for most people — costs a flat $5 charged by Takenos, not by the network
- No currency-conversion fee is published anywhere. The issuer never writes "no FX fee", so this record leaves it blank rather than reading silence as zero
- The physical card is Bolivia-only per the help centre, and delivery inside Bolivia is geofenced to a few urban rings
Also true, in its favour
- Apple Pay and Google Pay on the virtual card
- Four years of operating history, a named regulator relationship — Global Flow S.A.U., registered VASP N°54 with Argentina's CNV — and a published seed round
- Partnerships are named rather than implied: Mastercard, Visa, Fireblocks, Bridge, Rain and Coinflow

The virtual card costs $5 to issue and nothing to keep. Every purchase costs 1%, dollar purchases included, which is the charge a reader is most likely to be caught by. Cash withdrawal on the physical card costs 1% plus whatever the machine charges, capped at $750 a day across three attempts in 24 hours — and declined attempts count against the three. The deposit fee is left blank here because there is no single figure: the funding table prices four routes differently, and the Tron route carries a flat $5 charged by Takenos itself rather than by the network. Currency conversion is also blank: Takenos nowhere states a rate and nowhere states there is none, and this site does not read silence as zero. Inflows above $10,000 a month stop being automatic. The physical card is priced three different ways on Takenos's own pages, so none of them is recorded.
KYC: what Takenos asks for
A government document. Passport or ID goes to the issuer and to whoever processes verification for it, before the card is handed over.
Limits on spending
Not published by the issuer: monthly spend, daily spend, per payment, maximum balance.
Confirmed on takenos.com on September 12, 2026. A figure told to one person in a chat window is not a published limit, so it does not appear here.

The other flaws
- The physical card price is stated three different ways across the issuer's own pages
- The weekly card limit is given as $5,000 in one help article and four times lower in another
- Multiple current App Store reviews report Apple Pay simply not working for over a month while the help centre still documents it as supported
- Deposits above $10,000 a month are not merely capped — they can be bounced, and raising the ceiling requires documenting your client's identity, not just your own
- Getting money back out in crypto is worse than getting it in: USDT only, no USDC, on three chains
- Chargebacks take one to three months and Takenos disclaims the outcome
- The card fee is non-refundable by the terms even if you change your mind before it ships
- The legal picture is genuinely messy: four different company names across the terms documents, with arbitration in Montevideo under ICC rules
- One account per person, forever, enforced with a permanent ban for anyone who tries to verify twice
